Unique NYC Requirements

NYC codes expand on the national standard, demanding higher-visibility, and more durable life-safety products:

Letter Size + Stroke: 8-inch tall letters with a 1-inch stroke (line thickness) for increased visibility.
Durable Construction: Must be metal to withstand heavy use.
Emergency Illumination: All units provide at least 90 minutes of illumination during power outages.
Exit Placement: Exits and exit access doors must be marked with an approved exit sign readily visible from any direction of egress travel. Depending on orientation, signage may be mounted flat against the wall, perpendicular to it, or both (at hallway intersections).
